Back from Guangzhou
网友们好!
Yes, yes, yes! I just got back from Guangzhou. I had my interview at the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou on Tuesday. Not knowing what to expect, I was quite nervous. I had heard many stories about people being rejected for all sorts of reasons. My interview was scheduled for 7:15 am. I got there at 6:30 thinking that I would get there early and be first in line. That's what I thought...ha ha ha...when I got there there were over 50 people already waiting. It started to rain and as expected people started to complain; at least the ones who didn't bring an umbrella. In the next 45 minutes the number of people waiting at least tripled. It was past 8:00 when they finally let us enter the building. There was a mad rush as people tried to be the first in line. After going through security and entering the consulate we found that our interviewer was assigned. It really didn't matter where we were in line. Well now I know and if you ever have to go there for an interview so do you. In line I was standing behind four women who had gotten married to Americans and were interviewing for their K-1 visa. They were all really excited that the day for their interview had finally arrived. They were also really worried because if they failed they would have to begin another more difficult process if they wanted to be with their husband. I heard there is a big problem with "fake marriages" by people who want to go to the USA. One of my American friends was emailed by someone on a dating web site asking him if he would be interested in getting paid for a "fake marriage". I guess it must be a good business. Anyway I was standing there by myself so it was hard not to hear their conversation. Six hours later I had my interview. I answered a few questions, sweated a little and passed. Yes I passed. Now I have a six months to go to the USA. I had 3 days before I could pick up my visa so I went to the wild animal park in Guangzhou. I was there many years ago for a competition. The animals won. Ha ha ha.
